Enjoy Day of the Dead, with quotes and sayings.

Day of the Dead best known as Día de Muertos (Spanish) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, particularly in the Central and South regions. The main purpose of the holiday is the gathering of families and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who passed away, and help support their spiritual journey.

It is particularly celebrated in Mexico where the day is a public holiday. Traditions of the holiday include building private altars known as ofrendas, honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these amenities as gifts. Visitors also usually leave possessions of the deads at the graves.

Originally, the Day of the Dead was not celebrated in northern Mexico, until the 20th century. Before that time the people and the church of the northeastern Mexico rejected it because they perceived the day as a result of syncretizing pagan elements with Catholicism. In the early 21st century in northern Mexico, people started celebrating Día de Muertos because the Mexican government made it a national holiday.
